Respect. Aretha Franklin's life in photos

Aretha Franklin's musical career spans six decades. Her more than 100 chart hits, including "Respect" and "Think," have made her the undisputed "Queen of Soul." Franklin died on August 16 at her home in Detroit, surrounded by family and friends, according to a statement on behalf of the family from the singer's longtime publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn. She was 76.
