'Homeland' begins the end of Carrie Mathison's long journey

"Homeland" begins its eighth and final season with some cleaning up to do, having left its main character in a precarious spot when the last one ended. That plot is quickly dispatched to place Carrie Mathison back in the Middle East, in a go-for-broke attempt to secure peace there that offers little indication of bringing the show to a conclusion worthy of its beginnings.
