First wildfires, now rivers of mud wipe out Southern California homes

At least three homes near the Southern California community of Montecito have been "wiped away by mudflow and debris," a Santa Barbara County fire spokesman said Tuesday morning as heavy rain fell in the area and forecasters warned of possible flash flooding and mudslides.
